Dynasty Warriors 8 confirmed!

October 30, 2012 Leave a comment

A magazine  page scan from a popular japanese magazine, Jump Magazine, revealed today the confirmation of the next series of Koei’s famous video game, Dynasty Warriors…. With the reveal of the 8th series, Dynasty Warriors 8

Even though Dynasty Warriors 7 Empires has yet to be released Koei have apparently gone on ahead and announced the next series of Dynasty Warriors early to shock us all, even though we knew it was coming, the news this soon has taken me by surprise!

Now I can’t translate japanese unfortunately but a friend of mine did and what we have here is the popular Dynasty Warriors character, Zhao Yun from the kingdom of Shu and a brand new character coming to the 8th series, this character in blue has been translated to as Yue Jin, a warrior from the kingdom of Wei, pretty exciting stuff!

Dynasty Warriors 8 has been set for release in Japan for 2013, although nothing as of yet for a overseas release but it is VERY early to tell anything yet, watch this space!

EDIT:: A second character has been announced in more magazine scans!

This guy is Li Dian from the kingdom of Wei, with him and Yue Jin, if anyone remembers the battle of He Fei, these will make that level much more epic!

Ziedrich’s Diary – Forum Life part 2

April 22, 2012 Leave a comment

During late  2003/2004 in Neoseeker, I was switching between Dynasty Warriors and Devil May Cry forums since they were the major games I was playing at the time and then started playing a game called Kingdom Hearts which I thought was a very unique RPG action game, I joined it’s forum section in Neoseeker and didn’t realise how crammed the place was, so many people with an average posts per day rating of about 120 to 150!

The Kingdom Hearts forum did have a moderator at the time, can’t fully remember his name, think it was around the lines of  FenriZ  666, Not completely sure since that was like the last time I met the guy, not long after I started in the place, he left his mod job and just a few weeks later, a new mod took his place, called DragonFang, nice guy but he didn’t really last long as the mod since he had some family issues or something and asked the admins to demote him.

This sparked a mass overhaul of moderation requests for the KH forum, during 2004, I was the most helpful member of that forum, with wave after wave of solving people’s questions on the game and where to go and such, after DragonFang demoted from there, I was announced as the Kingdom Hearts Master due to me fully completing the game and one of the few people who made a FAQ to all the big bosses such as Sephiroth and the Ice Titan.

I started gaining quite a few loyal fans, people such as Devil Link and Mount, and I thought that I might aswell send my invite off to the admins to become moderator of Kingdom Hearts, when I announced that I have done so on the KH’s general discussion thread, the rest of the members kinda lost hope of them gaining the mod place, I felt bad but was also laughing at the humour side of it

At first, I didn’t want to send the invite for mod place since I didn’t think I could take the responsibilities of a moderator, I mean I was a mod before, for about 6 months, I was mod of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duellist Of The Roses, I haven’t talked about it since my job there only lasted 6 months and that section was dying down when I got the position anyway so it’s not important….

Anyway, before I sent the invite, I was given a PM by one of the website’s Super Moderators, his name was called BloodSin, a very nice guy that I talk to everynow and again over at the Vagrant Story forum. He sent me a personal message pretty much saying that he was studying certain people after the last mod retired, he told me that I was one of the best guys for the job of moderation of KH forum, I was quite moved but such confidence that this upper class mod has on me and so with this in mind, I sent out my invite and had to wait for the answer

The waiting would last about 2 weeks, it was quite an agonizing 2 weeks, just waiting for a reply, then when the time came, I received a PM from the special member, Moderator Requests, who focuses just on the mod invites, hence the username. He said to me that after some serious competition of the place of mod of Kingdom Hearts, I was the one their choose, my heart almost stopped at what was in the PM and just a few days later, my username, Martinwalker8, was on the top of the forum, “Moderator – Martinwalker8″, I really couldn’t have been any happier!

In part 3, I will talk about some of the things I have done in the Kingdom Hearts forum of Neoseeker and that my season as mod of the forum lasted about a massive 18 months!

Konami announces Metal Gear Online termination

February 15, 2012 1 comment

Konami have announced today on their Facebook page that the Metal Gear Online game, after 4 years since it started, is to be terminated during the summer this year, here is what Konami said in their recent post on Facebook:

“To start off, we would like to first thank anyone who participated in Metal Gear Online for their four years of dedicated loyalty and support. It was because of your support that this project was extended an additional year longer than initially planned.

We are going to be rolling out a series of small closures starting March 21st and ending with theshutdown of the central servers June 12th on the 4th anniversary of the game’s release.

On March 21st the MGO Online Shop will be closed.

The following month, on April 24th, the Expansion Packs, Preset Codec Message Appeal Packs and Reward Shop Equipment will become available for download for free. New character registration will be unavailable after this date.

Finally, on June 12th at 11:59PM JST (4:59AM PST, 7:59AM EST), the servers will be shut down.

You’ve snuck, shot, CQC’d, won, and lost against fellow operatives all around the world creating friendships and rivalries we hope you’ll cherish long after the servers end, and from the entire staff at Konami and Kojima Productions, we thank you, and hope that we will have the opportunity to serve you again in the future.

Taken from the official transcript at the MGO website: http://www.konami.jp/mgo/us/hd/event/information.html

“METAL GEAR ONLINE” was included with “METAL GEAR SOLID 4″ and launched on June 12th 2008.However, we regret to announce that online service will draw to a close on June 12th 2012 after four years of service.

Thank you to everyone for your loyal support of METAL GEAR ONLINE.”

It is sad to hear about that, many people loved Meat Gear Online almost as much as the actual Metal Gear Solid 4 game but after 4 years.

I am surprised it lasted this long, Konami even said that the game was extended by a year and now they are slowly closing the curtains on this game, so if you are still playing the game, try to make the most of it as come summer time it will be closed down for good!

Assassin’s Creed III release date already confirmed!

February 15, 2012 Leave a comment

I was just looking through some gaming websites, just for some usual intel and I found this interesting piece of evidence for the upcoming UbiSoft game, Assassin’s Creed III.

I found this information just today on the vg247′s website and it says about the release date of the game and the scenario for a possible story plot, below is what is said on the website:

“Ubisoft has announced Assassin’s Creed III will be released on October 30.

The date was given in a financial call to investors today. Details regarding the game are minute at this point, but it will star a new protagonist. Various locations have been rumored over recent months, with Egypt, China, and America during the Revolutionary period the running favorites. The French Revolution has also been mentioned.”

The information on the game’s release (Alongside Far Cry 3) is actually supposed to be released tomorrow in Europe but this was leaked sooner than Ubisoft expected.

So far from what I’ve read up, Assassin’s Creed III is set for release on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and possibly PS Vita, so everyone will get a chance to play this, I’m very curious on what it will actually be about….

Mass Effect 3 Single Player Demo First Impressions

February 13, 2012 Leave a comment

Having managed to redeem the Mass Effect 3 demo early, I thought I’d just share my views on the single player demo since multiplayer isn’t really my strong suit, I’ll try not to spoil the story itself if I can but there isn’t exactly alot to say about the story since it almost jumps right into the action with the tutorial bit of the game but first the demo itself….

If you are one of the lucky ones to redeem the demo early, I dunno if it’s just me but apparently connecting to EA servers is not online yet which could be the reason why I couldn’t access multiplayer feature but this is about the single player mode so lets move on shall we!

Now at the main menu, you pretty much have limited choice anyway, it’s just single player and options menus you can pick, once you choose to get started, you have a choice to become the male or female Shepard so after you picked your sex of the character, you will be taken to a menu with 3 ways to play Mass Effect 3….

THE ACTION EXPERIENCE

Option 1 is the Action Experience in which conversation options are thrown out of the window and become part of the cut-scene rather than you making a choice which I think is the best way to play this demo, get thrown right into it without having to worry about the choices you make.

Although, this means that the story is only a “One-Way Road”, with the game making all the choices for you, you might not end up doing what you may think is necessary, switching between good and evil choices, at least thats what I may think to believe, the difficulty and such are all auto-set to default standards (Even if you set the difficulty before playing this option!) but it can be adjusted from the options menu

THE ROLE-PLAYING EXPERIENCE

The role-player experience is, basically, for the average Mass Effect player who is more used to how the game normally plays, this is the best option for new players or veterans of the series due to it’s originality and keeping to how Mass Effect should be played, the difficulty and options are set to what they were before you started this choice so if you had this on casual for example, this option of play won’t change it

The RP option gives the best of both worlds without being too aggressive with the fighting and you choose which path you wish to take, passive or aggressive type, like I said, this is probably the best option overall if you want a bit of everything…. Which I am sure most ME fans are these days!

THE STORY EXPERIENCE

The story experience is mainly for those who love a good story telling, if the action option is for “Less brain and more brawn”, then story option is the reverse, more focused on the choices you make during cut-scenes rather than the fighting, although you will still fight the majority of the battles regardless, the difficulty and such in this choice from what I played in the demo seemed to be set to an easy difficulty so you won’t have to worry much about being in a tight squeeze

This experience option is mainly for beginners if I’m honest, if your a soldier type or similar in this option, you are pretty much a tank, you can charge senseless and it will take alot for the enemy to take down your shields so you can focus and what choices you should make next during the next cut-scene, etc.

The gameplay itself has changed a bit since the second game, graphically, it’s the best looking of all 3 games but this demo isn’t without a few bugs and glitches, such as enemies getting jammed into walls and ornaments when killed or blown into a rag doll. The health part of the gameplay has changed a bit also, you have five health bars, as you take damage beyond the shield strength, if your health goes beyond a bar, that bar won’t be able to recover unless you use a first aid kit so if you take too much damage, your health won’t regenerate much at all which can make the game a little tricky in harder difficulties.

The controls in this demo are a little chunky and hopefully should be resolved in the full game about a month from now, aiming is a little clunky too but again hopefully resolved in the full game of Mass Effect 3. They have added some new powers, the ability to use grenades, new weapons to use and a new type of melee, you have you bog-standard quick melee strike but there is now a new, harder hitting, close combat attack, holding on to the melee button releases this heavy hitting attack.

If your a soldier type or similar, you will unleash this awesome plasma hand blade like weapon which springs up and impales the enemy, it’s surprisingly satisfying to finally see it in action from all those trailers about it, if your a so called “Mage” or magic type or similar, your character just releases a powerful close range shockwave which is pretty deadly I must say, useful for when you need some breathing space.

The action of the single player demo consists of two areas of play, first one is pretty much the tutorial and beginning of the game, doesn’t take long until you are jumped right into the thick of it, but most of you will learn this part pretty quickly. The second part is in a slarian home planet where you have to help good old Wrex obtain something, this is the “Action” part of the demo, you will experience most of the fighting here and fight a mini boss but I won’t say anymore as I don’t want to spoil it all now!

Overall, the demo’s main goal is to offer you a bit of everything without spoiling too much and if you can see past some of the clunky controls and a few bugs in it, the demo does show how amazing Mass Effect 3 can be and it’s barely a taste of what’s to come, I’m very VERY looking forward to this game, sadly it might be the last of the series which is a shame indeed but it will be going with a very load BANG!

The demo is officially released on Tuesday the 14th February on Xbox 360 with it possibly out the next day for Playstation owners on PSN (Or SEN as it’s going to be called from now on) with the full game of Mass Effect 3 being released on March 6th in the US and 9th of March in Europe so there is still chance to pre-order the Collector’s Edition (Which I have pre-ordered!)

Oh! On a side note, if you have downloaded or thinking of downloading the demo to Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning, having a quick play on it will unlock a special armour to use in the full game of Mass Effect 3, free armour is always good armour!

Watch my SCV creations in action “Soul Calibur V – Ichigo Kurosaki Vs Hollow Ichigo” on YouTube

February 11, 2012 Leave a comment

I’m quite proud of these actually, tried to make them as accurate as possible!

I just love game with a create-a-character function, it really makes one’s imagination fly and get some inspiration going in your mind, this on in Soul Calibur V, one night I decided to make some cameo characters and what came to mind I thought I’d never actually try to make in a game

It all started off with just the base model of a male character and one thing let to another, I ended up with making Ichigo Kurosaki from the anime, Bleach, after making him, I then decided to edit him and add the broken Hollow mask on and changed his eye colour to that of the Hollow and I was very pleased with what I made!

Later I copied him to another empty slot and decided to make the Hollow Ichigo and that was pretty simple enough and changed his weapon style which worked out well, below will be the very first time I put these two together in SCV and fought against each other, pretty good action in this video! (The video is on my YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/Martinwalker8)
